What to order for a workplace celebration - why brownies beat cake for handing round, what to cut for a farewell, and the two practical things people forget when ordering for an office.
An office cake has a job that a birthday cake does not: it has to be handed round a room of adults, usually without plates, usually without much warning, and usually by someone who is also trying to make a short speech. That rules out several things that would be perfect at a party.
Brownies solve most office problems
A fudgy brownie slab (₹499 for 0.5 kg) is what we send to offices more than anything else, for practical reasons rather than sentimental ones. It cuts into identical squares, so nobody is comparing portions. It does not need plates, forks or a fridge. It survives a desk for an afternoon. And it travels to the office without arriving smudged.
For a bigger team, the 1 kg slab at ₹999 goes a long way, because brownie portions are small by nature.
When you want something to cut
Farewells, retirements and promotions usually want a proper cake for the moment itself. For a mixed group of colleagues, a Chocolate cake (₹399) is the safest order we make - almost nobody refuses it, and it suits a room whose tastes you do not know. Butterscotch (₹399) is the next safest, and adds some texture.
Avoid anything very rich in an afternoon office setting. A dark truffle cake is a wonderful thing at a dinner table and gets half-eaten at four in the afternoon.
Farewells and retirements
For a farewell where the cake is part of the occasion, a photo cake (₹499) carrying a team photograph lands far better than a generic cake with a name piped on it. Send us a clear group photo and the wording you want. These need a day's notice, so plan it when the leaving date is announced rather than the morning of.
Two practical things
- Ask about eggless before you order. In a workplace there is almost always someone who does not eat egg, and every cake we bake can be made eggless on request. One eggless cake avoids quietly excluding a colleague.
- Tell us the time. Office celebrations happen in a fifteen-minute window between meetings. Give us the actual time and we will deliver to it.
