Christmas & New Year Cakes in Tenkasi: What to Order and When
Planning a cake for Christmas or New Year in Tenkasi - which cakes hold up through a long afternoon, what size suits a midnight cutting, and the dates to work back from so you are not ordering on the 24th.
Christmas and New Year run into each other, and the cakes people want for each are not the same. This is a short guide to both, written early so you can plan - the last week of December is not the week to start thinking about a cake.
Christmas: the cake is part of a long day
A Christmas cake usually sits out through a long afternoon of people arriving, eating and leaving again, which is harder on a cake than a birthday party where it is cut and cleared in twenty minutes.
That argues for something that holds. The Choco Truffle (₹599) sets firm and still slices cleanly hours in. A brownie slab (₹499) is better still if people are grazing rather than sitting down together, because it keeps indefinitely on the table and nobody needs a plate.
If you want the traditional centrepiece, Black Forest (₹299) is the one most families here recognise as a celebration cake, and it is the best value on the menu for a full table.
Themed and personalised Christmas cakes
Red-and-green finishes, snow effects and character designs for children are all doable - see the themed range and the custom cakes for the kind of thing we build. As with any decorated work, send a reference picture and we will tell you honestly what is achievable at what weight before you commit.
A photo cake (₹499) with a family photograph is a good choice for a gathering where relatives have travelled in and the year itself is the occasion.
New Year: later, smaller, and book earlier than you think
New Year cakes are usually cut at midnight for a smaller group, which means a 0.5 to 0.6 kg cake is often the right size rather than the large one people reach for by habit.
The planning problem is delivery, not baking. 31 December is awkward to deliver on, and the later you want it, the more that matters. Order in the third week of December and tell us the time you actually want it in your hands - not "evening".
Eggless, as always
Every cake we bake can be made eggless on request, Christmas and New Year included. Worth asking if anyone in the group needs it - one eggless cake is simpler than two cakes, and it costs nothing to mention when you order.
Dates to work back from
- Mid-December - book anything tiered, sculpted or printed for Christmas.
- Third week of December - standard Christmas cakes, and anything for 31 December.
- 24, 25 and 31 December - our busiest days of the month. Same-day is unlikely.
